Danilo is an Agriculturalist who has worked in Raggi Vivai (a truffle plant nursery leader in Italy) since 1983, at first as nurseryman, now as a manager. He is a founding member and promoter of the Mondo Tartufo Association.
He is also an expert in strawberry cultivation and strawberry breeding. As a breeder, he co-founded in 1992 the New Fruits company, a strawberry breeding company which he now directs, participating in several projects for selection and development of new varieties of strawberries all over the world.

Graduated in Agricultural Science from the University of Bologna, and has worked as an agronomist since 1996. He is a sommelier and an expert in wine and food, teaching, lecturing and judging wine competitions internationally. He is also an expert in the sensory analysis of foods and will present his truffle sensorial analysis at the OTF for the first time anywhere in North America.
He also works as a Quality Assurance Manager and is a consultant in companies specializing in horticultural products. He writes for food and wine magazines and he is a designer and consultant for companies that develop farm holidays, educational farm holidays as well as agro and culinary tourism. He is actively involved in projects that promote and enhance the Emilia-Romagna Region and its excellence, and is a member of Mondo Tartufo, Italy’s largest truffle association.
Mondo Tartufo Association
The Mondo Tartufo Association was born in Italy 2007 with the purpose to promote, plan, coordinate and develop education, research, documentation and realization of projects that disseminate and advance the knowledge of truffle cultivation and farming.
Belonging to the Association are: biologists, chemists, geologists, food and wine scientists, sommeliers, technicians of truffle cultivation, purveyors of fresh and processed truffles, breeders of truffle dogs, truffle experts, nurserymen, truffle-growers, Slow Food afficionados and simple truffle lovers.
Raggi Vivai
Born in 1970 as a nursery of strawberry plants, during recent years Raggi Vivai's business has extended its activities and diversified its products, investing in research and development at the same time. For the Italian truffle cultivation market, Raggi Vivai has been a leading company in the production of truffle plants since 1980.
