Families of the Vine
A few friends, a good meal, a glass of wine -- what could be a more simple pleasure? Why then does the subject of wine — and particularly writing about wine — often seem so darn complicated, needlessly technical or frustratingly pretentious? In this book I wanted to tell a different story about wine, to share my experience of two years spent among French winemakers and vineyards -- two years in which I discovered that the story of wine from vine to glass is as much the story of the people who make it, their history and traditions, their intimacy with the land, as it is a tale of yeast, grape, and barrel. Happily, it is also, in the small family vineyards where much French wine is made, a very warm, very human story. Hardback signed version.

From Here, You Can't See Paris
At the turn of the millennium, author Michael Sanders journeyed to a quiet corner of Southwest France to spend a year in and around a small chef owned restaurant called La Récréation in the ancient village of Les Arques. His intention was to capture the life of the restaurant as it made its way through the twists and turns of the seasons.
During that year, as he explored the story of La Récréation and its owners, Jacques and Noelle Ratier, he discovered how intertwined it was with that of the village and its people. The resulting book, From Here, You Can’t See Paris, is Sanders’ delightful tale of the significant role this young couple’s dream, and the glorious food spilling from their kitchen, have played in revitalizing this small French village.
