Cole Danehower, Co-Publisher and Editor of NW Palate Magazine

Cole has been covering Northwest food, wine, and spirits since 1999 as a writer, editor, and publisher.

He founded the Oregon Wine Report in 1999, reporting for consumers on the growing importance of Oregon’s wines. In 2004 Cole won the James Beard Foundation Journalism Award for the best food and wine newsletter in America, and a year later the Oregon Wine Report was named by SAVEUR magazine as one of their “Top 100 Favorite Things” in food and wine.

In June of 2006, Cole merged the Oregon Wine Report with Northwest Palate magazine, the leading consumer magazine helping 45,000 readers explore, experience, and enjoy the Northwest Epicurean Lifestyle. As Co-Owner and Editor-In-Chief of this 21-year old magazine, Cole and his team provide in-depth and personal coverage of the wine, food, and culinary travel resources of Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Idaho. Cole is a frequent wine judge, has been a regional correspondent for Wines & Vines magazine and AppellationAmerica.com, and his food and wine writing is published regularly in a wide variety of print and online venues.

Cole has just completed a book to be published in 2010 from Timber Press, tentatively titled Wine Countries of the Pacific Northwest: A Guide to the Wine Places, People, and Plants of Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and Idaho.
